In 2009, there were approximately one million fewer visitors that came to Cancun, Mexico. This year started off extremely strong for Cancun’s tourism industry as the month of February saw 85% of Cancun’s total 28,000 hotel rooms booked. Not too shabby compared to last years numbers. If you think that’s a lot, this month’s (March) occupancy numbers is expected to go even higher when more students take a break from their studies and head out with their friends for a well deserved Spring Break in Cancun.
This is a total turnaround from this point last year as reports indicate that there were various universities and colleges that warned their students who were headed for Cancun, Mexico of the surge in violence.
